Living in the Ligurian mountains and spending many hours hiking and running in the hills, it's impossible to miss the myriad monuments to young partisans killed during the war. These hills were a sometimes a haven, sometimes a battleground, with fierce Nazi reprisals in response to resistance activity. With fascism again on the rise around the globe, I wanted to make work honouring those who lost their lives, such a short time ago. It seems our memories are short.
