2022 so far

It's been a busy year so far, so busy we're only just updating our news page.  February saw us showing "Zero Footprint - 12 years on" at the Catstrand in New Galloway. The exhibition centred around land use and biodiversity and we also did two presentations at the venue, inviting community conversations around that same topic.

We've been part of two group shows; "Nel Bosco" in Borghetto D'Arroscia, Italy, with internationally renowned sculptor Sophie Dickens. Continuing from the earlier show, this exhibition explored the landscape of the Ligurian Hinterland, where depopulation (although the hillsides are far more densely populated than those in Scotland) has led to natural rewilding - the area has around 66% tree cover of mixed forest.

In August we were part of the group show "Only When I Dream" at the Coningsby Gallery in London. Our work was on display alongside artists Gina Glover, Carol Sharp, Sam Falconer, Claire Rosen and Martin O'Neill.

We both presented at The Stirling Photography Festival in September, again both talks featured around land use, climate and biodiversity. The talks were originally planned to be part of the Festival of Biodiversity, but that event was postponed due to the death of the Queen.  You can see a recording of Morag's talk here and Ted's talk, split into three sections, here.

Morag continues to co-host the ICM Photo Mag Network Community alongside Kaisa Sirèn and Stephanie Johnson, and they also lead online workshops several times a year.

We both continue to offer a regular free mentoring spot with ICM Photomag and have also been featured in both Outdoor Photography  and Professional Photographer this autumn.

2021 Round Up

Well, fair to say we've been a bit slow at keeping our news page updated over the last year or so.  We've been busy working on a range of projects, online exhibitions and doing lots and lots of online presentations to camera clubs, communities and at festivals.  We've also been working on collaborative and interdisciplinary projects and perhaps unsurprisingly, doing a lot of online mentoring both for individuals and for ICM PhotoMag.

One of the biggest developments of 2021 was running two online workshops with ICM PhotoMag and subsequently creating the ICM photomap network community with Stephanie Johnson of the United States and Kaisa Sirèn of Finland.  You can check out what's on offer here, there's bi-monthly themes, lots of great exclusive content and plenty of live interactive sessions: https://www.icmphotomag.network

L'Amore Del Mare

"You create very beautiful works which engage the deeper parts of being—the parts without thought, the place we try to reach through meditation or other ways of just being" Elliot Landy.

Arts Territory Exchange and A Stitch in Time Exhibition, Beijing.

We're taking part in a remote residency through Arts Territory Exchange with Alaskan artist Katie Ione Craney (check out her work here, it's both mesmerising and thought-provoking).  We'll keep you posted on how it goes.  We also had work featured in their 'A Stitch in Time' Exhibition in Beijing.

Workshop Newsflash!!

You can read a bit about the background to us ending flight accessed workshops by late 2020 in an article we wrote for the Scottish Herald a few weeks ago, click here and it will open in a new window.  It's a tough decision and we'll see how it plays out in the long run.

Energise Exhibition and Artists Residency - Dumfries and Galloway 2018/19

Ted and Morag will be undertaking a two month artist residency based in the Galloway Glens area, starting in October 2018. The work explores the Galloway Hydro Electric scheme and will include research, community workshops and the creation of new work.  The project culminates in spring 2019 with a site specific event and an exhibition at Gracefield in May/June.  The project is funded by Creative Scotland, Upland and the Galloway Glens scheme.

They also have work in a connected group exhibition curated by Upland called "Energise" which is on show at the Kirkcudbright Galleries from October 13th through until early December 2018.

Head On Photo Festival, Sydney

"Ode to Pluto" will be on display in Sydney during May 2018 in the Festival Hub Screenings Area, Paddington Town Hall.  If you can't make it to that one, it will be coming back to Scotland again this August, details to follow.  Click on the image below to see it on Vimeo.

Ted will be walking the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri in May 2018 to raise money for Solar Aid as part of the Zero Footprints project.  You can follow his walk on our blog and if you'd like to make a donation you can visit the Just Giving page.
