The Buchaillle
Gateway to Glen Coe. More photographed than a new born child. And deservedly so. I have had many great adventures on this hill including scrambling up Curved Ridge (rock face in the middle of shot - one of the best 3 hours you can possibly have without a rope!), winter ascents and being involved in a mountain rescue (fortunately I was not the one being rescued!).
For this shot I went for simplicity. Usually shot with the ubiquitous burn in the foreground, I preferred a very graphic approach on this occasion and to let the hill speak for itself. It can perform its solo with no accompanyment can the Buchaille! Indeed, as I shot this a photographer was dashing across the moor for fear of missing the stream out - totally ignoring the amazing cloud that whisked across the summit in a matter of seconds and which is the making of the shot.
