Dalveen Pass

This is my home turf but to be driving down the road with my kit on the right day when there was sufficient colour contrast between the grasses and bracken and when the light was just right at the appropriate time of day took the best part of 2 years to achieve. The shot was in my head all that time, I just had to achieve it. On the day it took about 3 hours for the clouds to be spread across the image as I wished. I set up, made a cup of tea in the camper and just waited - a huge grin on my face as I just knew at last the day had arrived.

The glen itself is simply stunning and one of the best in southern Scotland, exemplifying the essence of the steep sided glens that form large areas of the southern upland landscape.
